Robots increasingly used in Japan to enhance business efficiency

The Japan Times

Japan is increasingly using robots for transportation and sales at office buildings, apartments, stadiums and other large-scale facilities. As the country needs to address labor shortages urgently, companies and workers are exploring how robots and humans can work together better for business efficiency. The Es Con Field Hokkaido stadium, home to the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters professional baseball team, has introduced work assistance robot "Suppot" to transport beer kegs. The robot detects and automatically follows its user and can carry up to 60 beer kegs. Another robot to sell food and drinks to spectators is being tested.

HSM MAGAZINE - AI technology helps cut accidents

#artificialintelligence

These new AI technology solutions are designed to improve business efficiency by reducing workplace injury and will be offered by Stanley, alongside advice on the best solution to improve workplace health. The first solution, WearHealth from Stanley will match companies with exoskeleton suits designed to help to improve workers' safety, health and wellbeing. The objective is not to allow workers to lift heavier loads, work longer hours or execute ergonomically riskier tasks but it is to make sure that their usual daily tasks can be performed without getting injured or suffering from musculoskeletal disorders. Stanley will use video scanning technology to assess a particular task, make recommendations for possible exoskeleton suits and then report on this with sensor analysis of the activity. The sensors are worn by the worker to allow for testing and analysis of an appropriate exosuit, to determine comfort and level of support based on real time data generated during the task.

It involves robotic process automation (RPA) and low-code platforms and promotes business efficiency by integrating artificial intelligence in enterprise operational processes. Cognitive automation involves other technologies like NLP, machine learning and deepfake AI to take the existing information and create models to promote cognitive and automotive-based decision making. The top emerging cognitive automation companies are rapidly turning this technology around to boost productivity, manage customer relationships, and make operations easier for the digital workforce. UiPath is all about taking bolder risks and opening the industry to greater possibilities.

Yes, AI Boosts Business Efficiency -- Until It Does This

More subtle, perhaps, but nonetheless insidious is the programitization of human bias or poorly conceived humor into machines -- machines that can't recognize their own faux pas. Chronicling these missteps has become a humorous side gig for some techies, who highlight the inability for A.I. to recognize the need for compassion, sensitivity, patience, or change in tone. A cheeky bot, while perhaps on brand, will remain cheeky even after a customer reveals he or she is trying to get things sorted following a death in the family.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has forecasted that global growth will contract by 6 percent to 7.6 percent in 2020, and it could take years to return to pre-crisis growth levels. Many businesses have instituted blanket spending moratoriums, frozen hiring and deemed most new purchases non-essential. However, some business leaders understand that opportunities exist to optimize business efficiency, capture more market share, and cost-effectively invest in critical infrastructure. HBR suggests playing offense and defense by first stabilizing your business and ensuring liquidity, and then determining how to outmaneuver your competition. The current business environment has caused many software providers to revise their forecasts down for 2020, but some software companies, like my team at Anvyl, have taken a different approach. We have been illustrating the competitive advantages customers can enjoy by spending more money on tools that enable their teams to scale, deliver better customer experiences, and enjoy a clear return on investment.

However, this doesn't come as a surprise when the platform is enhancing stability and security, whilst allowing staff to work more flexibly with reduced costs. Although, as with all technologies, there is opportunity to innovate further. Similar to the cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has worked its way into our everyday lives.

5 ways to use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve business efficiency

#artificialintelligence

Regardless of a company's size or type, its executives typically look for ways to help it operate as efficiently as possible. They understand the link between efficiency and profitability. If employees waste too much time with drawn-out processes or complicated tasks, it'll be hard for the enterprise to remain profitable and adapt to challenges. Fortunately, artificial intelligence (AI) supports the need for effective business operations. Here are five ways enterprises can use AI for help: Chatbots are an increasingly popular option for businesses to try, and they use AI to work.

Chatbots are an increasingly popular option for businesses to try, and they use AI to work. Companies often build chatbots that can answer any questions from customers that come through outside of business hours. Some identify the nature of a person's problem, then either attempt to tackle it with preprogrammed answers or pass the communications to a human support worker. The retail industry, in particular, saw success by deploying chatbots. Global data collected by Juniper Research shows an estimated 2.6 billion retail-based chatbot interactions in 2019, and the company forecasts the number to rise to 22 billion in 2023.

By 2022, employers expect AI to boost business efficiency

The future of AI implementation in the enterprise context is no longer contained to leading tech teams. Automation is expected to play a role in most processes -- including the back office. At the start of the year, industry trends pointed at artificial intelligence projects going from "experimental" to "necessary," just as the four-year growth rate of AI implementations hit the 270% mark. As digital transformation becomes the norm across industries, decision makers see value in the promise of technologies like data analytics, robotic process automation and AI. The expectation is that it can enable teams to move faster and become more efficient.
